More colleagues on the frontline for SWGR as it secures major Babcock contract

Date

SWGR has won a significant contract to provide skilled frontline colleagues for Babcock projects across the country.

The frontline labour contract will see teams from SWGR work shoulder-to-shoulder with Babcock for up to eight years.

The contract involves work for the Rail Systems Alliance Scotland (RSAS), which is a customer-centric and solution-led organisation that brings the collective engineering expertise and strengths of Network Rail, Babcock and Arcadis together as an alliance, delivering renewals and enhancements in CP6 and 7 across Scotland.

SWGR is proud to deliver a skilled workforce that focuses on safety and work ethic and strives to bring the very latest in rail best practice. Its teams are truly multidisciplinary – covering rail infrastructure services with particular expertise in possession management, welding services, skilled track workforce provision, and isolations planning and delivery.

The company has invested in strong safety infrastructure, including a high-tech control centre, a unique safety-focused App, training and development initiatives including behavioural training for all frontline leaders, and continues to support its clients, supply chain partners and its frontline colleagues with mobile health, safety and wellbeing units that provide free health checks and ongoing mental wellbeing support on the frontline.

This investment has been determined by analysing data and information, using predictive safety models and implementing safety initiatives which enhance the working environment and work towards reducing potential incidents.

Colin Deuchars, Managing Director for Babcock Rail, said: “We are pleased to have SWGR on board. The team brings a phenomenal amount of experience to our projects. SWGR has amassed decades of understanding in rail – which is exactly what our partnership requires. It is its unwavering dedication to operating a safe shift every time that gives us confidence that the job will be completed right first time and to the highest standards.

“Babcock has a strong history of building good relationships with supply chain partners – setting out foundations that will last. We are pleased SWGR has a similar collaborative approach, and this will help us continue to strengthen our base of understanding and expertise.”

Raj Sinha, Group Managing Director at SWGR, said: “We are grateful to have had the opportunity for this new and exciting working partnership with Babcock. It is an absolute delight to work for a client that is so supportive but equally clear on expectations of excellent performance.

“As a business, we have been focused not only on the latest technical developments in rail and rail delivery – but supplementing this with a dedication to safety through our Safe Together initiative, staff wellbeing, carbon-cutting initiatives and ever-improving customer service.

“Frontline skilled workforce provision is more than the term suggests. It is about building a meaningful relationship with the client and being able to reflexively respond to a fast-paced, ever-growing, and ever-improving industry.

“We strive to be dignified, respectful, humble, and positive in everything we do. We look after our colleagues, providing them access to health checks and mental wellbeing support through our frontline mobile health and safety wellbeing units, through to a leadership that is visible and working shoulder to shoulder with Babcock. It is this strong bond that defines SWGR and its success, and why we believe we will be an inspiration for the next generation of railway people.”
