SWGR assisted with rectifying the significant damage caused by the widespread flooding in the Cumbria and the Northumberland area after storm Desmond in early December 2015.
Teams worked on multiple sites within Carlisle, Lancaster, Hexham and Prudhoe dealing with extensive flood damage to a variety of properties such as Industrial Warehouses, Schools, Colleges, Training Facilities, Office Premises, Workshops, Restaurants and Vehicle Repair and Testing Facilities.
The work involved the removal of mud/silts that were left as a result of the floods, but also the power washing and sanitising of various structures.
The teams also compiled inventories of items to be disposed of and were involved with the removal and disposal of affected contents, floor coverings and furnishings.
In addition to the clear up operations, the teams were also on hand to offer guidance to various Building Surveyors, Insurers and Loss Adjusters in respect of restoration and the drying of affected structures.
Our disaster recovery division has vast experience in the immediate provision of support services following both natural and manmade disasters. Our team have travelled the world supporting rescue and clearance teams following Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans in 2005, 9/11 in New York and the post-fire clean up of the Glasgow College of arts in May 2014 which gutted the Charles Rennie Mackintosh Library in the city.
