Developing expertise and a positive reputation can often be a challenge for any company. SWGR has achieved many plaudits by delivering required results, not only within the rail and engineering industries, but also in the area of major bridge repair programmes both at home and abroad. It has built this reputation up over the past two decades with quality, reliability and flexibility as key hallmarks of its involvement. This has laid the foundations for it to be a company that can be relied upon to deliver manpower solutions time and time again.  

In the UK, key contracts have included the company’s involvement on the Kingston Bridge in Glasgow, including undertaking concrete repairs, the installation of new bearings and the realignment of the centre section of the structure across the River Clyde. Likewise, more recently, the company has been entrusted to supply key personnel to play a pivotal role in strengthening the support steelwork on the White Cart Viaduct, the landmark flyover which carries the M8 Motorway past Glasgow Airport and Paisley. Similarly, a short distance away along the Clyde, the company has also been drafted in to provide technical expertise to strengthen steelwork sections on the Erskine Bridge in preparation for installation of the much needed suicide prevention fence.

Abroad, our level of experience has also been in demand, with involvement in several key projects in West Africa along with the major improvements to the Rambler Channel Bridge at Hong Kong International Airport to name but a few. The Hong Kong contract was particularly notable, as it involved technical challenges including the installation of massive concrete sections onto the bridge. Once again, SWGR delivered positive results for the client. This came at a point when Hong Kong was gearing up to become one of the biggest air transportation gateways into the ‘modern’ China. This involvement, particularly at the heart of Asia and its booming economy, allowed SWGR to further enhance its International reputation within a key developing market place at the right time.
